Meghan Stratman graduated from the University of Nebraska in 2004 with a BFA in Studio Art, emphasis in Graphic Design, and a minor in film studies. She started making collages after a glue book exercise in Beginning Typography and it has become her favorite medium. Meghan's artistic style comes from her love of bright colors and interesting textures, while the flat, graphic nature of her characters stems from her background in design and a life-long interest in animation.
Being a visual person, Meghan surrounds herself with a variety of stimuli which play a big role in her art: action figures and stuffed animals fill her studio and Japanese anime, classic and modern film, books, video games, and comics fill her spare time. While her characters are often cute and whimsical, her love of science fiction, horror movies and books, carnival culture, alternative art, and the macabre lend a glint of dark oddity to her work.
Meghan is very interested in illustration and would love to eventually create art for books. Currently, she works as the Graphic Designer for the Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center in Lincoln, Nebraska.
